Freelance photojournalist Angela Catlin is a former colleague from my days at The Herald newspaper in Glasgow. She is one of the most gifted and experienced photographers in the world and has won numerous awards for her photography including Feature Photographer of the Year at the UK National Picture Editor Awards and Scottish Photographer of the Year on two occasions.
Angela has worked in places such as Rwanda, Srebenica, Cambodia and Columbia and kept me sane in the cauldrons of Gaza, Guatemala and Haiti. I’ve worked on a number of projects with her including an investigation into the rise of neo-Nazism in Russia and our reportage won both Amnesty International’s Scottish Media Award and Nations and Regions Award.
A feature we produced for Scotland On Sunday’s Spectrum Magazine exposing the
racism suffered by Roma in Scotland was voted British winner of the European Union Journalist Award in 2007 and our reportage came third overall in Europe out of more than 800 entries to take the Bronze Prize.
Angela and I are working on a number of projects at the moment to highlight
human rights abuses across the world so please contact us with any story ideas.
